Technical Centre Manager

We are proud to be the sole authorised distributor for HONDA motorbikes, power equipment and marine in New Zealand for over 50 years, so you are assured of variety to work across all the product ranges.  

Based at our Head Office in Airport Oaks, we have a need for a proactive and dynamic leader to fill the role of Tech Centre Manager.  

It's important we find the right person for this pivotal position; we are looking for someone that thrives on a challenge, is highly motivated to deliver A grade service and is passionate about creating a culture of excellence.  

Reporting to the Group National Service Manager, this position involves both hands-on mechanical activity and overall workshop control. 

In addition, the role occasionally works offsite on promotional events such as Boat Shows and Fieldays, wider distributor servicing network needs and the opportunity to get out on the water for sea trials.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities 

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Tech Centre
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Technicians
  • Ensure efficient workflow and productivity
  • Assessing and implementing tasks to the team and reporting on the efficient and safe repairs and maintenance conducted
  • Manage job bookings, parts sourcing and department WIP
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by promptly addressing enquiries and concerns
  • Ensure all departmental tools, equipment and vehicles are in good working order
  • Manage staffing and employment development activities
  • Implement safe working practices and promote a culture of health, safety and environmental compliance

About You

  • With solid experience as a Senior Service Advisor, Workshop Controller or Service Manager, you are strong on planning and daily management of workshop tasks
  • Extensive knowledge of automotive systems and vehicle diagnosis
  • Experience in technical and after sales process flow
  • Proactive approach to problem solving, focusing on value add solutions
  • Both customer and business focused to ensure a strong emphasis is placed on quality and service
  • Strong leadership, mentoring and people management experience
  • Self motivated with a collaborative, outcome focused approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong IT and administration skills
  • Permanent NZ residency
  • A valid Drivers License and clean driving record is required.
